A Boy and a Kite

Awhile back Grayson found a sad, broken down, old kite in a field by our house. He's the kind of person who can always spot potential. He brought it home, found a branch about the right size to replace the kite's missing support, taped up some rips and pronounced it flyable. Now all he needs is enough wind so he doesn't have to keep running up and down the street to make it fly. Oh, and some more string.

Fuller's Fiefdom

This year in social studies our local seventh graders were to build an artifact or display item for their "Medieval Museum". This was a big assignment which also contained some written assignments, and extra points offered for bringing a parent to see the museum. There was one hard glitch in this assignment, and that was that they couldn't do any weapons. Apparently their teacher thinks they should be able to, but the school board says No. That makes this a bit more difficult assignment for a seventh grade boy, because when you're talking about Medieval times, weapons are the most/only interesting part.
Fuller decided that he wanted to construct a manor out of clay and sticks. It turned out much bigger and more interesting than I thought it would. And although he did some SERIOUS procrastinating on getting started, he ended up putting some good time and effort into it.

I thought it was great! And apparently his teacher did too, because he got a really good grade on it.

Birthday Celebrating- Part III

We woke up Saturday morning to some very tired middle school boys, and one VERY excited SEVEN year old boy. Though we were a little tired we did our best to make Rowan's day just as special. He started it off with his choice of breakfast(actually he wanted Count Chocula, but after looking at three stores I gave up). Then once Fuller's friends left we headed into town for the real fun. We went glow in the dark mini golfing at this place.

It was really dark in there, so I only got the one photo in front of it. Rowan thought the place was both cool and exciting and also a little bit scary. The skeleton/pirate theme was a bit much for the younger crowd.

His special day also included spending his birthday money on Star Wars Legos and a new DS game, dinner at La Sirenita, and home for cupcakes before bed.

Birthday Celebrating- part II

On Friday night we finally got to celebrate our new teenager properly. He had his good buddies Talon, Tyler and Daniel over for some basketball playing, junk food indulging, video game playing, and sports trash talking (and a little sleep).

This is a fun group of boys with good senses of humor,

who take their loyalty to their favorite teams very seriously, even in video game format.

So far the "teen years" are off to a good start!

Seven

Today our fun loving little bundle of energy and silliness turns seven. I can't believe it! Seven really seems so old, like he's not my baby any more. I'm still going to call him that though, even though he hates it. I'm glad that at least he doesn't think he's too old to snuggle.

Here's the results of a little birthday interview with Rowan:

Favorite food- Pizza or Chicken Yakitori(which by the way he's never had,he just thinks it sounds good)
Favorite movie- Bugs Bunny Volume 6
Favorite Restaurant- Burgerville or McDonalds
Favorite TV Show- Flintstones or Smurfs
Favorite Game- Indian Jones II for DS
Favorite Music- "Livin' on a Prayer" (Guitar Hero introduced him to that gem)
Favorite thing to do- play DS
Favorite toy- his DS
Best Friends- Garrett and Zane
Most important thing he learned this year- "how to play with stuff"

Happy Birthday Rowan! We love you!

Birthday Celebrating- Part One

Poor Fuller, he spent his entire last week as a 12 year old sick as a dog! Due to his being so sick we decided to postpone his main friend birthday celebration until next weekend. But, we couldn't let his entry into the teen years go completely uncelebrated.

This weekend Grandma and Grandpa came over for a birthday lunch and some banana splits to celebrate. They brought him two of his favorite things, Celtics gear and money.

Since they were coming out we also did a little early celebrating of Rowan's birthday. His wildest birthday dreams came true! He now has his own DS.

And we all had a great visit with Grandma and Grandpa!

Up next, middle school boy sleep over party for Fuller (Heaven help me) on Friday, and mini golfing for Rowan on Saturday.
