On his way to the NBA

This is my superstar! Grayson had his first basketball game on Saturday. I knew we were going to be in for some good entertainment, after seeing their practice on Wednesday. Only Grayson and one other boy had ever played before, and they only get one 45 minute practice before they play their first game. And, believe it or not, my little Grayson is one of the tallest kids on his team. This was definitely an opportunity for him to shine. He remembered to dribble, made some great steals and passes, and lots of shots (although none of them actually went in). I can really tell how much improved he is from last year. The rest of his team was almost too comical. The coach and refs were laughing pretty good.

For some reason Grayson kept getting paired up with this huge kid. I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but the boy is at least 8-10 inches taller than Grayson and outweighed him by about 40 pounds. But Grayson really held his own, and didn't back down, even when the big guy was trying to muscle the ball away from him.

I was just happy Grayson didn't get hurt. At this age they can sometimes get too rough, not intentionally, but just because they don't really understand how to guard and steal without getting too physical. Hopefully it will be a great season, and Grayson will have fun.

Good for Grayson! Remembering to dribble is a very important part of basketball, he's well on his way to the pro's!

Yay Grayson! That big kid is in Conner's class -- it's always shocking to watch the come out kids at dismissal. That's great that Grayson we able to hold his own.
