I am feeling cautiously optimistic. Rowan has not cried at all about school in the last two days. When I picked him up yesterday he had a smile on his face and a piece of paper clutched tightly in his hand. When I asked what the paper was he said "a letter from my teacher...a good letter." I'm so glad he added that last part, because notes from teachers do not always bear good news. The note read as follows:

I just wanted to let you know that Rowan has been helping another friend that has been missing her family! With his help she has had a smile on her face all day today! Rowan has had a smile too!
